Mary Kate O’Flanagan

Mary Kate O’Flanagan is an award-winning writer and story consultant working in the European film and television industry

Formerly an arts journalist, she has written seven feature films all of which have been funded for development by Screen Ireland (formerly The Irish Film Board) and six of which are optioned and currently in development. She has written three television pilots, one of which won a Prix Europa from The European Alliance for Television Culture.

Mary Kate was Ireland’s first Grand Slam Champion Storyteller at The Moth. She was also a Grand Slam Champion Storyteller at The Moth in Los Angeles. You can hear one of her stories (which went viral) at:

She won The Dublin StorySlam again in January 2019 and is working on turning her stories into a piece of theatre.

Mary Kate has lived and worked all over Europe. She speaks Danish, Italian, French and her native Irish language and has a minor in Biblical Hebrew.
